What is RSC conduit in electrical?

RSC conduit is made of hot dipped galvanized steel, with the purpose of protection for the electrical raceway system. It can be used in various environments such as indoors, outdoors, underground, etc. Rigid metal conduit has the thickest walls of all kinds of conduits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between RGS conduit, RSC conduit, RMC conduit?

RGS=GRS=rigid galvanized conduit

RSC=rigid steel conduit

RMC=MRC=rigid metal conduit

They are different expressions of the same meaning. The title is different in different customers or different countries, but they all represent UL6, ANSI C80.1 rigid conduit pipe.

What is the difference between rigid conduit and galvanized pipe?

1. Welded seam is different
The Rigid electrical conduit has smooth welded line, which can not damage the wire. But galvanized pipe has raised inner welded seam, which can damage the wire.
2. Application is different
Rigid conduit is used to carry wires when galvanized pipe is used to carry gas, water…
3. Size is different
Rigid conduit is from 1/2″, 3/4″,1″,1-1/4″,1-1/2″,2″,2-1/2″,3″,3-1/2″,4″,5″,6″. But galvanized pipe is far beyond these dimensions.
4. Length is different
Rigid conduit is 10 foot length, galvanized pipe could be any length
5. Pressure test is different
Galvanized pipe for water and gas need pressure test, but rigid conduit has no pressure rating.
6. End of pipe is different
Rigid conduit is threaded both end, one end is coupling and other end is plastic cap. But galvanized pipe can be plain end or threaded both end.

Why rigid galvanized steel conduit price is always changing?

Because the price is based on steel material, galvanizing fee, labor cost, shipping fee. When any of them increase or decrease, the price  will be adjusted together.
